Creative Writing
Creative writing allows me to exercise my imagination and gives me freedom to explore a variety of formats. I enjoy writing poetry, short fiction, creative non-fiction and memoir.
My 2013 chapbook of poetry and prose, Holding: from Shtetl to Santa, published by Green Fuse Press, explores themes of family, immigration, and my cultural journey ranging from the biblical Exodus from Egypt up to my marriage to Santa Claus. (Yes, I still believe in Santa!)
In 2017, I contributed to and edited the poetry anthologies Going Deeper and Mountains, Myths and Memories. My work has appeared in Earth’s Daughters, Pooled Ink, Pilgrimage, Tulip Tree Review and Progenitor and other journals and anthologies. In 2018, I was a finalist for the Wolverine Broadside Contest and in 2014, the ACC Writer’s Studio prize. My poems have received awards from Columbine Poets, Northern Colorado Writers, Boardwalk Gallery and the Poetry Society of Colorado. I was named the Poet of the Year at the Denver Ziggies Poetry Festival for 2014-2015.
